Child Safe Code of Conduct

Everyone who attends a school through I Recruit, including teachers, education support staff and Preferred Providers and their staff, must follow this code. It reflects the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and each state's child safe standards.

§ 01

You must

  • Hold the current working with children check for the state or territory (or teacher registration where it is accepted in its place) before attending any school site
  • Sign in and out using the school's process and wear identification at all times
  • Follow the directions of school staff, and stay in areas you have been authorised to work in
  • Treat every child with respect, and promote the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from diverse backgrounds, children with disability and LGBTIQ+ children
  • Report any concern about a child's safety immediately to the school and to I Recruit
§ 02

You must not

  • Be alone with a child out of sight of school staff, unless that is part of your agreed role
  • Contact children privately, including online or by phone, or share personal contact details
  • Photograph or film children except as agreed in writing by the school
  • Use physical contact, language or behaviour that is inappropriate, harmful or discriminatory
  • Attend a site under the influence of alcohol or drugs
§ 03

Breaches

A breach may result in removal from a school site, suspension or removal from the I Recruit platform, and reporting to the relevant authorities. We meet all mandatory reporting and reportable conduct obligations.
